![]() You can also use a trick Menard swears by if you’re breakout-prone and set on a fuller-coverage formula: “I like using a full-coverage foundation or concealer in a sheer way with a damp beauty blender,” she explains. The key is addressing particular skin issues separately for a natural look that allows your skin to breathe throughout the day-rather than looking for a foundation to fix all. Although silicone-based moisturizers and primers often receive a bad rap for being comedogenic, Henao suggests using one if you have textured, non-breakout-prone skin, as you can smooth out the surface of your complexion before applying foundation. In fact, many makeup artists argue it’s essential to any good skincare routine, primarily for its moisturizing and anti-aging benefits-and that includes the foundation you use.Įven if you’re dealing with textural issues like acne scars or rosacea, heavier, fuller-coverage formulas usually aren’t the answer. “Sometimes people think using a full-coverage foundation will solve the issue, but it’s the opposite-it’ll make your texture appear more raised and uneven,” Henao explains. If you have combination or dry skin, oil in your foundation is okay. (Noncomedogenic means a product is formulated to not clog your pores.) “You can also find makeup with active, acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid.” “Look for products that are noncomedogenic,” says King. ![]() When it comes to liquid and cream foundations, oil-free formulas are great if you’re dealing with sensitive, breakout-prone skin. a dry and cool environment-as powder turns darker when it gets wet. Pro tip: If you are leaning towards powder, Henao suggests only using it in specific climates-a.k.a. Powder (or mineral) foundations can work for oily complexions, but you should avoid them if you have dry skin. “Even if you’re oily, I would choose a liquid-water and oil are basic ingredients your skin naturally produces and has, so when that natural oil comes out, liquid will sit on your skin much better than a powder.” “I love the finish a liquid foundation gives the skin,” Henao says. If you have prominent dark circles that skew blue or purple, using products with peachy or golden undertones can reduce their appearance.Ĭhoosing the right formula (such as liquid, cream, or powder) depends on your complexion, but unless you’re gunning for a particularly matte look, liquid or cream is usually a good place to start. For example, if you have redness, foundations with yellow bases (and even green-tinted color-correcting products) can offset that. In addition to matching your foundation color to your natural undertones, you can use these shades strategically to address your specific concerns. ![]() “If none of the colors associated with undertones stand out as obvious, you have neutral undertones.” “Any skin color can have cool, warm, or neutral undertones,” King tells us. Keep in mind that undertones have nothing to do with how light or dark your complexion is. ![]() “If your chest and shoulders tend to be more red and pink, it’s safe to say you have pink undertones, or if you’re golden, peach, and yellow, you have warmer undertones. “I recommend looking at the exposed areas of the body first,” he says. This can be a difficult task for even the most seasoned beauty vet, but Henao breaks it down in a way that’s easy to digest. Determining whether you have warm, cool, or neutral undertones is key to picking the best foundation color to match your skin, so you don't end up looking unnaturally orange or pink.

It really does just depend on what you value most. I don't think there's a right answer either way you will buy a kit, be very happy with it and make the most of it. I have the exact same dilemma I'm going to buy one of these two kits within the next 1-2 weeks. Would this be worth it? I mean, if Roland is really that durable, it shouldn't be an issue right? Or would it be better to play it safe and pay full price and get the 2 year warranty with it? Maybe I could convince them to knock off an extra £50-100. I can actually get a used kit for £2049 (ex demo). UPDATE: I am now leaning more towards the TD27KV, for reasons I will explain later. Tried them both out for 3-4 hours each, still torn. So I think its helpful to just get peoples overall opinions on it. You certainly can't customise the kit sounds to their full potential in that situation, or see how different the experience is with VST. I might have to go to the music shop one last time in order to really make up my mind- but at the same time there's only so much you can do when trying them out. Is there anything else that I need to consider? Am I mistaken in thinking that the latency and digital ride and snare isn't THAT big of a deal- or that Alesis have fixed a lot of the durbaility issues? Is one better that the other when it comes to recording specifically (ie covers), particularly if using VST? I know that the Roland kit is also supposed to be better in terms of latency- but is this even noticeable? I also understand that one of the main selling points of this Roland kit is the digital snare and ride- but is that really enough to offset all of the good things about the Strike, and for more money? I certainly didn't notice much of a difference with the ride and snare when I was playing it- maybe EVER SO SLIGHTLY, but not really enough to win me over completely. ![]() I know that Roland has a better reputation when it comes to durability, but it does seem like Alesis have sorted a lot of the problems of their previous kits with this one. I also like the feel of the drum heads more (less bouncy), though I'm sure I could get used to the Roland heads. Bigger drums, more drums, better sounds, and all for £500 less. My initial thoughts are that I prefer the Alesis. ![]() I have actually spent a good 3 or 4 hours on both these kits (though still can't make up my mind). I am mostly in to hard Rock/heavy metal, so playing double Bass is a must. So, the kit will mostly be used to simply practice on- though I would also like to record drum covers. Drums, for me, is ultimately a hobby- though it is something that I do care about a lot and something I want to get very good at (I am a singer first and foremost, however). I am, I would say, an intermediate level drummer. Would love to see some pics and hear your thoughts.I am in a bit of a dilemma right now in trying to decide between these two kits, so if anyone can help me to make up my mind, it would be greatly appreciated. Good luck and let us know which way you go. Are you planning to resell down the road and upgrade to something bigger? If yes go Roland. Are you are strong player and need durable pads? That could play a factor. Which looks better to you- optics are important. Seems like that rack will take up more space and will travel harder than the VAD306 if that’s something for you to consider. ![]() The Pro’s module seems to produce more natural sounds than Roland’s (still not as good as the Mimic Pro). Hopefully the new SE brings them into a better space with those nagging issues. BUT with Alesis comes historical problems with durability. Also gotta love the sizes, much closer to an acoustic kit. Hi hat seems to be much better now with single pad and clutch trigger. The new Strike Pro SE seems to be an improvement over the legacy Strike Pro kit. I might be just a little worried about that kick drum and how it “feels”. Since the shells are brand new who knows what you’re getting. Makes it feel a little more like an acoustic kit. I totally love the standard hardware setup with double braces stances. I might also consider buying a Drum-Tec 13” or 14” snare down the line ($400) and moving the 12” snare to up/down tom position. If it were me I’d run VST software through the TD-17 module to spruce things up a bit (I believe Get Good Drums is still running a deal to grab their Modern & Massive library for like $66- a steal - use code INDOORS33). Roland isn’t known for great drum sounds for the most part. You also get smaller drum pads and small cymbals- the 13” ride is a drag. ![]() Roland brand gives you durability, a decent (not great) module and brand reputation( read: higher resell value). Now that Chase has gotten rid of the Pay-Yourself-Back redemption for dining, I'm wondering if I can have my cake and still eat it by temporarily booking Alaska flights through the Chase travel portal (in order to get the additional UR points when paying with cash or take advantage of the favorable redemption rate when paying with UR points), cancel the booking with Alaska, and then use the refunded credit on Alaska to book directly with them.ĮQMs are elite-qualifying miles. When you say that Alaska will "refund the amount you paid" for tickets booked through the Chase travel portal, how does that work when redeeming Chase Ultimate Rewards points? E.g., when redeeming 50K Ultimate Rewards points for a $750 ticket (at 1.5 cents per point if one has the Sapphire Reserve), if one were to then cancel that ticket, then I assume Alaska would refund $750 to the wallet (rather than $500)? We're used to criminals neglecting their molls, and I'm Your Woman declares its allegiance right in the title. Admittedly, some will find this to be rather boring and a lacking perspective, but I thought the approach of director/co-writer Julia Hart (Stargirl) was to highlight the perspective of a character often taken for granted and forgotten in gangster cinema and its celebration of doomed antiheroes. Every scene when she's been left alone and sees a car coming closer, every knock on the door, it raises the suspense because your mind, like hers, is questioning everything. We as the audience are left very much in the dark with Jean, and this precious little information allows us to very strongly feel her paranoia and anxiety.
